On the way back from India Lauren and I spent 24 hours in Doha, Qatar. It’s a very expensive country, but if you get a hotel by the art museum it’s really not so bad. Also, there isn’t too much to do, but you can go sand-duning, which is great. Until you get into a wreck… More on that later.
Layovers in and out of Qatar are easy, and make the trip more affordable. There isn’t too much to do, but feel free to turn the layover into a stopover and you can see the whole country in a couple of days. Also, if you are lucky, you will know an expat who lives there and who may show you around.
Doha (spent 1 day, 2 days would have been ideal)

Outside of Doha, in the Desert (spent half a day, 2 days would be ideal)
As far as the accident goes, it was their first time to have a car wreck, and it was quite intense. We were at the top of a sand dune watching other cars pass by but instead of turning in where we turned the driver turned too soon and hit the front right of our vehicle.

All-in-all Qatar is a fine place but don’t make it your only destination. Do it as a layover, on the way to somewhere else. Spend a couple of days here, but know that this country is most fun with a good deal of money. Traveling here on a budget is not ideal.
Country level of difficulty – 3/10
